Make a Referral to Insight Youth
We accept self-referrals from individuals aged 16-25 and those completed by a parent/carer for individuals under the age of 16. Health, education, social work and other professionals can also put individuals forward for referral. Referral routes differ depending on the age of the young person, so please read the information below carefully to ensure you follow the correct process.

Referrals for young people aged 16–25
Referrals for young people aged 16–25 are accepted on an ongoing basis.
Young people aged 16 and over can refer themselves.

If the referral is appropriate for Insight Youth, it will be scheduled for an assessment in line with our usual processes.

Referrals for children and young people aged 8-15
Due to the level of demand for counselling and psychotherapy for children and young people under 16, Insight Youth accepts under-16 referrals during scheduled referral windows.

maintain service quality

ensure assessments and therapeutic support are offered in a timely and clinically appropriate way
Next referral window (aged 8-15)
The next referral window for under-16 referrals will open on:
Monday 30 March 2026
and will remain open for one week.
During a referral window, eligible referrals can be submitted using a secure referral form.
What you can do now (aged 8-15)
If you would like to make a referral when the next referral window opens, you can register your interest using the options below.

ensures you receive the correct referral link at the appropriate time

Shortly before the referral window opens, you will be emailed with further information and a link to submit a referral.

Insight Youth is not an emergency service, and timely support is important where risk is high.
